You gotta love Airport Lounges.....yummy beer in Canada.
I am sitting in the Canada Air Airport Lounge in Toronto and my taste-buds thoroughly enjoy the rich, tasteful beers Canada has to offer...
The Creemore Springs UrBock is a must for every beer lover. It is sort of a well balanced breed between a British lazy ale and a classic lager...and its taste is full of flavour, something I missed terribly after having visited the "light" beer country USA. I guess due to the cooler weather up here breweries tend to produce richer beer...great for the taste, bad for the belly :-)..
Anyway, we are flying to South America, Peru now..
Keep it cool...cheers Oli
Hello from Manhattan! We finally made it! It's my first time in NYC and Oli has not been back since he was 14 so you can imagine how excited we were once we left DC on the famous BoltBus to NY.
Our kind hosts Charity & Patrick and Sam were extremely hospitable and for this we say a huge thansyou for accommodating us at their homes.
Everything about NY is fun, hip and happening...from the street fusion, fashion, bistros, cupcakes, theaters, art houses...there is something for everyone here in NY...it caters to all taste
buds! Literally! The street art and graffiti, the yellow cabs, city life and the community of artists and fashionistas for us makes New York unforgettable!
We watched The West Side Story on Broadway, which was amazing...I sat in awe of the talented cast! We walked the streets of Manhattan flat, from 5th Avenue, West Village, SoHo, TriBeCa, lower
east side to Broadway...the designer boutiques and concept stores present many a challenge to back papers if you know what I mean! :) we did find a little room for shopping though...we got my
wedding dress and some of our bridesmaids attair here in Manhattan...
Central Park is a massive area that is pretty much as depicted in the movies...a real chill out place where people meet and greet, oh, and jog :)
Last night we passed the Blue Note Jazz Bar and Vanguard Village...the streets are packed, NY's night life beats most other countries we have experienced...we managed to attend a friends party in
a penthouse suite...definatley memorable times...
achh, and by the way...we weren't affected by the latest terrorist attack at Times Square here in NYC, as you may gather from the news papers...
The constant buzz and cultural diversity makes NY an exciting destination...as the song goes...I love NY, this place will make you feel brand new and it will inspire you! It definitely has had
that effect on us!
We off to Toronto on Wednesday...but before that we will check Brooklyn and the Statue of Liberty! Watch this space!

Hey guys!
Hello from Sunny DC...All well on our side...The last 3 days in DC have been awesome...we visited the White House, Parliament Building, Washington Capital and Monument, Library of Congress, Museums (most of which are free by the way) and enjoyed some highly recommended Bristos in downtown DC...
DC is a nice place to stop over for a few days...its a clean and well maintained city...the architecture is somewhat colonial in parts...there are beautiful walkways...and we were just in time to see the cherry-blossoms in bloom...the only issue is that of the accommodation options in the city...as Oli has further elaborated on...hehehehe....
Today we hit the road via the China bus to NEW YORK, NEW YORK!!!! We cant wait...we will be visiting Patrick and Charity as well as ordering my wedding dress while in Manhattan...I personally cant wait!!!!
Take care and watch this space...
Love
Mish
hey guys...I had a couple of light beers here in the US...very popular! The difference to Europe however is that "light" means less calories as opposed to less alcohol content...I guess in both cases the taste suffers...so I would not recommend it unless you are looking specifically for something that it supposedly "healthy"...:-)..
In Hawaii I enjoyed a Kona Longboard Island Lager...great though a bit bitter...check it out:
Prost!!! Oli
...just had a terrible night...promise...after this trip I will never ever sleep in a dorms room with strangers again....basta...people can be so ignorant and selfish...unbelievable...plus they snore like wild boars...gosh..
anyway...happy day...
by the way we are off to NYC....see ya...Oli
...greetings from the gulf of Mexico...we on the west coast of Florida... ...and we were first tempted and then totally bought over by Apple's new iPad...amazing...guys, reserve one now...they are selling like hot cakes...we had to drive around like crazy to find one...and trust us...this tablet is so cool..
Well, back to our travels...we landed in Orlando a week ago. We went straight to Walt Disney World. As a matter of fact however, we were a bit disappointed because the park is, as opposed to our expectations, very much focused on kids only...in other words..the rides are not wild enough :-)..
From Orlando we drove down the coast, quick visit at the Cape Canaveral where NASA launches its rocket etc. We coincidentally pumped into a gay parade in Miami Beach...:-)and tried to go down to Key West...unfortunately, the road was blocked by freaky truck accident...
Today, we crossed the Everglades swamp...took an airboat ride and saw some alligators...great...now we in naples...
And soon we are off to NY...have fun and don't forget....reserve an iPad...:-)
Mish and Oli
Hey guys....news from Hollywood...we saw Russell Crowes's (Actor from Gladiator) Walk of Fame Star Ceremony today..he got his place with a star on the walk..great stuff.....plus we saw Jay Leno (one of the biggest TV Hosts in the US)...
Yesterday, we went to the Universal Studios...very interesting...we saw the film sets of Terminator, Simpsons, Shrek etc...and enjoyed couple of rides...well...at least I enjoyed it, am not sure about Mish :-)...
We off to Florida tomorrow...where we have an appointment with Micky Mouse...psss...don't tell anyone..
Have fun, cheers Oli
by the way...something that we haven't mentioned yet...our car got towed away in New Zealand....at 4.43 in the morning...can you believe it..so there we were...standing at 5.30 am in the parking lot staring at an empty space...bhaaa...and the best thing was that our flight was going 3 hours later...:-)...
anyway...coincidentally..we bumbed into the guy who towed our car and he gave us a lift to the yard where our car was parked...still...we had to pay 250 NZD...roughly 200 CHF or 1500 ZAR!!! to get it released...quite a knock to our budget...
moral of the story...always pay for parking in NZ...even from 4 to 5 o'clock in the morning :-)...
Hey....we finally found a place where we can write a blog message...somehow there are not many internet Cafes in the US...
So, we made our way to the US West Coast. We landed roughly 2.5 weeks ago in LA where we didn't stay too long. Instead, we drove down to San Diego to enjoy Sun and Sea World...fantastic..the killer whales are awesome...and create a big splash :-)...we were soaked...
From San Diego we made our way through the back country of California (Palm Springs) to Arizona (Lake Havasu and Williams) where we saw the Grand Canyon...amazing as well...on the way there we had to change 2 TYRES....damm...I hope we get a refund from the rental company because the tyres were already damaged when we left LA....anyway...big hassle...
Then we hit fabulous Las Vegas...and lost a lot of money :-)...I just can't get my hands of these bloody machines :-)...and tables...but besides losing money we also saw two Cirque du Soleil shows...spectacular...one of them was "O" where the stage is pretty much a giant pool and the artists are jumping into water...amazing...the second show was Chris Angel...quite a popular magician...he is like the new Copperfield...great stuff...
From Las Vegas we crossed the Nevada Desert and the Death Valley. We woke up the next day in Winter Wonderland, with roughly 20 cm of fresh snow...:-)...was cool though since we had a car we just kept cruising in our summer clothes till we hit warmer San Francisco Weather...
San Fran is an amazing city...very cultured...we loved it...we had a famous Clam Chowder in a Bread Bowl...similar to a bunny chow in Durban...good stuff...even though Mich didn't like it that much...:-)...the cable cars are also legendary, winding and cranking themselves through the city...San Fran is definitely a must see in California...
Now we are heading south again towards LA...where we will fly out on the 13th to Florida...
Pictures follow...unfortunately no connection here...
Hasta Luego...Oli&Mish
