Oli&Mish AroundTheWorld 2010

Oli and I are currently in Switzerland celebrating Christmas with family and friends...The celebrations kicked-off early this year i.e. Dec 23rd...so you can imagine the amount of great food and wine we have consumed over the last few days:)

We are thoroughly enjoying our time here, after all we will be missing in action for the next 6 months, so best we enjoy these moments with family and friends before we embark on our great journey, which i must add we cant wait to begin...

We fly off tonight to not so sunny Durban to spend time with my side of the family and celebrate New Year. Jan 4th is D-DAY...India here we come...To all our friends...a MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all...Happy Holidays and may the NEW YEAR bring everything you hope for...

What an adventure...Cape Town exceeded our expectations...the panoramic views, mountain ranges, beaches, wine estates, adventure trails, theaters, clubs and GREAT FOOD AND WINE... we have had the time of our lives being a part of the pulse of the Mother City...







Well, this is our story in summary of course :)

Our first challenge was our first apartment in sunny Green Point. It was quaint to say the least, it had a fireplace i.e.it had potential, however it needed a MAJOR FACELIFT...you get my drift? so that's exactly what Oli and I proceeded to do...we cleaned and cleaned and cleaned until the diamond in the rough came to light...The noise levels on this main road were pretty annoying at times so we opted to move to sunny Seapoint. One look at our new pad and i was SOLD..it was like moving from a bungalow to the house on the hill:) We loved being so close to the Atlantic Seaboard and jogging along the promenade (on occasion of course).

A very important piece of information, as i am sure you have been informed of, Oli and I got engaged on 09.05.09 at 11.02am on Lundudno Beach, 27degrees...perfectly romantic..got the ring designed on the same day, shared a sun- downer on the beach and theafter proceeded to be wowed by the curry kitchen, Chandani, in Woodstock...THAT DAY WILL FOREVER BE ETCHED IN MY HEART...




During our time here, we worked, played, met great friends, entertained and welcomed friends and family from far and not so far...Oliver's sister, Gigi,  was our first official visitor and boy oh boy was she lucky to be staying with us in sunny Greenpoint:) we were so thankful for her visit...Tracy and Hannah were next on the visitors list, Brent and Lyle thereafter, followed by our parents popping by...we had a blast with them in CT..memorable times indeed...

Oli completed his MBA and delivered a thesis in record time, completed his South African pilot and boat license...and also got some extra practice by offering classmates Cape Peninsula flights...

I worked for a fashion retailer in a strategy project office. The work was challenging and I met some awesome people...a win and win experience indeed...

We both climbed the famous Lions Head, Table Mountain and Devils Peak...that's right, i was on the hike as well...:) can you believe it?




We have both been truly enriched by the moments we have encountered and the friendships we have shared.

...we finally sold everything we owned in Cape Town...our apartment is empty...and only the stuff that comes with it is left...feels great....

We will leave Cape Town on the 17th of Dec for Switzerland and Durban (Christmas) before we head out to India....

Then it goes to the far east....


Then via Australia to the US



From the US West to East Coast...then via Toronto to Latin America...


then across the continent to Switzerland...back on the 23rd of June 2010....hasta luego...

After a fun year of studying and working in Cape Town, we decided to embark on an AroundTheWorld trip starting on the 17th of Dec. 2009!
